About our Guest Speaker Dr. Gary Forney

Gary lived in the Mockeries River Delta of the Canadian Arctic for over 20 years. He is an arctic bush pilot. He lived and traveled with the native people of the region. He has logged thousands of miles by snowmobile and slept often in tent with temperatures down to -40 degrees.

Gary has killed over 100 caribou for food and has taken 8 moose, 1 Dall’s sheep, 2 black bear (1 with a bow & 1 with flintlock), many whitetail deer, 18 turkeys, and numerous small game and birds. He grew up with an “after school trap line” and has caught many muskrats, mink, and raccoons with the occasional possum and skunk. He enjoys shooting sports and reloading ammo and hates cats. When he comes to speak to us he will be bringing 3 or 4 deer mounts, a black bear shoulder and rug, a Dall’s sheep shoulder, and a couple boards of turkey beards.

A book was written about him entitled, “Northwest Adventures” however it is between printings right now. He will be sharing some of those adventures with us.

Brother Forney is also the director of Points North Baptist Missions. He was led to start this by the scripture, “Ye have compassed this mountain long enough: turn you northward.” Deuteronomy 2:3.
